TP Training is a SafeWork NSW approved training provider for Traffic Management Implementer (Yellow Card) Training Course in Sydney.

Traffic Management Implementer (yellow card) course addresses the skills and knowledge for personnel responsible for traffic management on a site to implement a work zone traffic management plan in the immediate vicinity of a workplace.

This course does not qualify a participant to control traffic with a stop/slow bat or boom gate, or to modify existing traffic control plans.

Course Description

This program is suited to those who have traffic controller experience and wish to further their career within the traffic control/management industry. This course is ideal for those who will be responsible for set up, monitor and close down a traffic guidance schemes or a Traffic Management plans. It will also allow you to position, set-up and program portable traffic control devices.

Traffic Management Implementer course provide theory, practical skills and assessment for topics related to the duties of a traffic management implementer including

  • Identify safety implications of traffic control at road works and personal responsibilities
  • Set up, monitor and close down traffic control devices according to a nominated TGS/TMP, to WHS and legislative requirements
  • Operate a two-way radio correctly and effectively
  • Check, clean and store equipment on completion of work and close down a TGS/TMP
  • Know the basic function of the TGS/TMP system
  • Locate and apply required legislations, documentation, policies and procedures including documentation required for worksite projects and required traffic management
  • Locate and apply required legislation, regulations, codes and procedures including Austroads Codes of Practice and WHS applicable to temporary traffic management
  • Adapt to all work health and safety (WHS) and operational requirements
  • Use the site/location assessment, distinguish topographical landmarks and carry out authorised risk control
  • Conduct an onsite check of a TGS/TMP to identify any unexpected risks/hazards
  • Plan for emergencies that may arise
  • Ensure spacing between signs and traffic control devices is in line with a TGS/TMP
  • Understand speed, environment, type and class of vehicles, traffic density, sight lines, environmental conditions, weather patterns and surface type
  • Maintain traffic incident reports
  • Monitor traffic controllers

Entry Requirements

Participants must

  • Be 17 years of age and above.
  • Have a current SafeWork NSW White Card (or equivalent).
  • Provide original ID documents that add up to at least 100 points in line with SafeWork NSW ID points table. Within these documents, you must be able to show your photo ID, date of birth, signature, and current residential address.
  • Provide evidence to demonstrate Australian / New Zealand Citizenship or Residency.
  • Have physically ability to demonstrate lifting equipment, signs and devices for training and assessment.
  • Provide Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • Complete TP Training Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

This Traffic Management Implementer course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. Attendance

This course requires one day (8 hours) attendance of classroom-based training with allocated breaks and half day (3 hours) live practical assessment.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary enrolment paperwork.

If participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time, entry to the course will be refused.

Participants need to wear suitable work boots, long trousers, long sleeved shirt, hat and a high visibility vest (or shirt) for all practical training and assessments.

Training & Assessments

TM Implementer training will include

  • classroom activities.
  • theory questionnaires and group activities.
  • minimum practical implementation using full scale devices and vehicles in controlled and safe environments

Assessments are to be completed as per the RII Resources and Infrastructure training package requirements, whereby all units of competency must be assessed on the job via 3 (three) separate live projects (in the context of traffic control at worksites)

Assessments will include

  • theory questionnaires and activities.
  • on the job practical application and observation (by a SafeWork NSW approved RTO).
  • provision of workplace samples and documentation.
Certification

After successful completion of the theory and practical training, you will be issued with a SafeWork NSW Statement of Completion (SOC) which allows you to work immediately under supervision within its period of validity.

The Statement of Completion is valid for 90 days, during this time you will be required to complete a live practical assessment in order to receive your SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training (TCWC) card.

After successful completion of both your one-day class-room based training and half-day live practical assessment, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by TP Training listing all the units of competency included in this training course. TP Training will then submit notification to SafeWork NSW to issue you with a SafeWork Traffic Control Work Training (TCWC) card.

Note Your SafeWork NSW TCWT card may take up to four (4) weeks to arrive in post from SafeWork NSW. Please consider that your Statement of Completion may expire before your card is received. If you don’t receive your card, please contact SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50.
