This Childcare First Aid course has been designed for the early childhood education industry. It covers the training requirements for first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis and legislation surrounding the early education industry.

This course is suited to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

It is a requirement in most states and territories that a workplace first aider must renew their first aid certificate at least three (3) years to ensure that first aid skills are current.

Course Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. It is suitable for people who need to conduct refresher training, maintain workplace skills or those who simply want to be equipped with a critical lifesaving skill.

Our childcare first aid course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including respond to an emergency situation, apply appropriate first aid procedures, communicate details of the incident and review the incident. It is the standard course required for employment in education and care industry.

  • HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
Entry Requirements

To be able to enrol this training course with TP Training, participants must:

  • Provide a form of photo identification, such as driver’s licence or passport
  • Have physically ability to demonstrate required tasks
  • Provide Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • Complete TP Training Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

This course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. Attendance

This course requires pre-course study (approximately 3 – 5 hours) and 1-day attendance of training and assessment.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary enrolment paperwork.

If participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time, entry to the course will be refused.

Training & Assessments

Training and assessment will take place in TP Training by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions and practical demonstration.

Students will be assessed from the pre-study and classroom session. Assessment will confirm knowledge and skills have been achieved to demonstrate competency across the units. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the training program.

Certification

After successful completion of your 1-day training and assessment, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by TP Training listing all the units of competency included in this training course.
