This course is designed to meet the requirements for earning an EWPA Yellow Card. It follows the RIIHAN301E – Operate Elevating Work Platform unit of competency.

EWP courses are intended for those working in operational roles. It is required for those who need to obtain an operator licence, which includes those who already have a High-Risk licence or a working at height ticket. You may also need to complete the training if you have an old Yellow Card or have not completed the training in the past five years.

Please note that this course does NOT cover the EWP ticket Sydney for operating an EWP with a book length of 11 metres or more. To get this ticket, you will need to attend the training of our course of TLILIC0005 – Licence to Operate a Boom-Type Elevating Work Platform (Book Length 11 meters or more).

Course Description

The EWP Operator License / Yellow Card Training course offers comprehensive theoretical and hands on training provided by Trainers accredited by the EWPA.

This course is designed to give workers the information needed to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of under 11 metres. The training covers the use of EWPs that do not require a High-Risk licence. This includes the following types of platforms:

  • Scissor lifts (SL)
  • Vertical lifts (VL)
  • Boom lifts (BL)

Entry Requirements

To be able to enrol this training course with TP Training, participants must:

  • Be 18 years of age and above
  • Provide a form of photo identification, such as driver’s licence or current passport.
  • Hold current NSW White card or equivalent
  • Have physically ability to demonstrate required tasks
  • Provide Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • Complete TP Training Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment

This course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. Attendance

This course requires 1-day attendance of training and assessment.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time of the course to complete the necessary enrolment paperwork.

If participants arrive 15 minutes after the scheduled starting time, entry to the course will be refused.

Participants need to wear sturdy shoes and appropriate attire for all practical training and assessments.

Training & Assessments

Training and assessment will take place in TP Training by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions and practical demonstration.

Assessment is used to provide you with feedback on your progress and to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process may include written questions, case studies and practical demonstrations.

Certification

After successful completion of your 1-day training and assessment, you will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) issued by TP Training listing the unit of competency included in this training course.

Upon successful completion of the course, your Accredited trainer will also submit training records to the EWPA who will approve your training. An interim record of training from the EWPA will be emailed to you upon approval of your licence by the EWPA and this can be used when operating a MEWP until you receive your yellow card. The Yellow Card will be posted to your supplied address which valid for 5 years. Once the card expire, you will be emailed 30 days prior to the expiry date to notify you that your card is about to expire with Instructions on how to renew your EWPA Yellow Card.
