Traffic Management Implementer Course Sydney

This traffic control training course is designed for personnel who are required to set up traffic control, traffic management, and traffic guidance schemes within a worksite. Implementation of a traffic management plan allows the qualification holder to deploy a work site, monitor traffic control and safety of the worksite personnel, and remove signs and devices at the completion of work.

Cost

$250.00 course fee (inclusive of 90-day SafeWork NSW Statement of Completion certificate, Trans-Plant Training Pty Ltd Statement of Attainment, and SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Card
$50.00 one (1) on-site final assessment with a SafeWork NSW Accredited Assessor (if an employer testimonial CAN BE completed).
Participants MUST provide a completed and signed employer testimonial, 2 x Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), 2 x Road Occupancy Licence (ROL)/Permit, 2 x logbook entries, 2 x Traffic Contol Plans (TCP), all documents must be for two (2) different work shifts.
$115.00 three (3) on-site assessment with a SafeWork Accredited Assessor (if the employer testimonial CANNOT be completed)

All documentation must comply with SafeWork NSW requirements.

Volume of Learning

New Workers, and Existing Industry Workers who have not previously completed the RIISS00055 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set:

  • Pre-course: 2 hours (Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills Test (the LLN will be emailed to you before the start of the course the LLN must be completed and must be brought with you on the day you start the course), Student Handbook, obtaining a Unique Student Identifier (USI) Number)
  • Classroom Theory/assessment: 6 hours
  • Practical Training/assessment: 2 hours
  • Assessment Onsite: onsite assessment to be completed by working on three (3) worksites with the final work site to be supervised by a SafeWork NSW approved trainer/assessor

SafeWork NSW Assessment Requirements

Assessments are to be completed as per the RII Resources and Infrastructure training package requirements, whereby all units of competency must be assessed on-the-job via three (3) separate live projects. Assessments will include:

  • Theory questionnaires
  • On-the-job practical assessment and observation (by a SafeWork NSW Accredited Assessor)
  • Provision of workplace samples and documentation (completed and signed employer testimonial, 3 x Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), 3 x Road Occupancy Licence (ROL)/Permit, 3 x logbook entries, 3 x Traffic Contol Plans (TCP)

Topics Covered

  • Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Maintain traffic incident reports
  • Works effectively with others to undertake and implement the Traffic Management Plans that meet all of the required outcomes
  • Comply with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions
  • Demonstrates completion of implementing Traffic Management Plans that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than three (3) occasions
  • Set up traffic devices in accordance with Traffic Control Guidance Schemes and relevant legislation
  • Removing or covering signs and devices after work completion
  • Check, clean and store traffic control devices and equipment at completion of work
  • Comply with State/ Territory regulations on three separate live traffic projects
  • Identify and select Traffic Guidance Scheme according to conditions and selecting and implement signage and device requirements, position and display according to site plan
  • Monitor and adjust scheme according to variances in requirements
  • Apply procedures to deal with non-compliant crew and motorists
  • Identifying communication strategies and systems
  • Operating communications systems and equipment to convey meaning to others
  • Interpreting other communications method’s including but not limited too such as flags, lights, signs, bells and whistles (if required)
  • Identifying and reporting communication faults and deficiencies
  • Sourcing, interpreting, clarifying and applying site safety information
  • Carrying out work instructions that complies with WHS policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments of Traffic Management Plan
  • Selecting, wearing and caring for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and report on WHS issues to appropriate personnel
  • Recognising and following procedures to respond to alarms
