Implement Traffic Control Plans Course Sydney

This traffic control training course is designed for personnel who are required to set up traffic control, traffic management, and traffic guidance schemes within a worksite. Implementation of a traffic management plan allows the qualification holder to deploy a work site, monitor traffic control and safety of the worksite personnel, and remove signs and devices at the completion of work.

  • Classroom:6 hours
  • Practical Training: 2 hours
  • Assessment Onsite: minimum 24 hours

Recognition of Prior Learning

Trans-Plant Training Pty Ltd offer an assessment only pathway for the competency RIISS00041 Work Zone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set.

RPL will not be offered to any participant until the competency RIISS00041 Work Zone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set is up for renewal.

Roads and Maritime Services Assessment Requirements

Assessments are to be completed as per the RII Resources and Infrastructure training package requirements, whereby all units of competency must be assessed on-the-job via three (3) separate live projects. Assessments will include:

  • Theory questionnaires
  • On-the-job practical and observation (by a RMS Accredited Assessor)
  • Provision of workplace samples and documentation

Topics Covered

  • Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Maintain traffic incident reports
  • Works effectively with others to undertake and implement the Traffic Management Plans that meet all of the required outcomes
  • Comply with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions
  • Demonstrates completion of implementing Traffic Management Plans that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than three (3) occasions
  • Set up traffic devices in accordance with Traffic Control Guidance Schemes and relevant legislation
  • Removing or covering signs and devices after work completion
  • Check, clean and store traffic control devices and equipment at completion of work
  • Comply with State/ Territory regulations on three separate live traffic projects
  • Identify and select Traffic Guidance Scheme according to conditions and selecting and implement signage and device requirements, position and display according to site plan
  • Monitor and adjust scheme according to variances in requirements
  • Apply procedures to deal with non-compliant crew and motorists
  • Identifying communication strategies and systems
  • Operating communications systems and equipment to convey meaning to others
  • Interpreting other communications such as flags, lights, signs, bells and whistles
  • Identifying and reporting communication faults and deficiencies
  • Sourcing, interpreting, clarifying and applying site safety information
  • Carrying out work instructions that complies with WHS policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments of Traffic Management Plan
  • Selecting, wearing and caring for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and report on WHS issues to appropriate personnel
  • Recognising and following procedures to respond to alarms

PLANS, OR TRAFFIC CONTROL GUIDANCE SCHEMES

On successful completion of RIISS00041 Work Zone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment by Trans-Plant Training Pty Ltd, and a Traffic Controller photo card with a three (3) year expiry, issued by Roads and Maritime Services
